The Muse Junior adjusts deadline

"The Muse Junior" recently announced some changes in regards to its competition for youth. Due to changes in the working schedule of the organizing committee, deadline has been moved to July 20, 2010.

The competition is open to young musicians not older than 17 years of age playing piano, violin, cello, and wind instruments. "The Muse Junior" competition will take place on a Greek island of Santorini for the second time and will be held from September 3 until 7, 2010.

As we continue to update Bakitone.com with new information on music competitions worldwide, a number of organizations announced their upcoming contests. Among them are the Barbirolli International Oboe Competition to take place in the UK in March 2012; the 11th Lional Tertis International Viola Competition, which will be held in the UK from March 16 to 23, 2013. The next edition of the International Guitar Competition in Omiš has been announced and is to take place in Croatia on April 5 - 10, 2011.

Joventuts Musicals De Catalunya has sent us information about several competitions organized by the association in Spain. Among them are the 19th Pasodoble Music Composition Contest "Villa De Pozo Estrecho" and the 8th Symphony Composition Contest "City Of Torrevieja".

Istituto Pianistico Superiore FB Mendelssohn di Taurisano suggested two competitions organized by the academy " the 11th European Grand Prize of Music "Mendelssohn Cup - Memorial Scarlino" and the 11th International Piano Competition "Mendelssohn". Both competitions are scheduled to be held in Italy during spring 2011.

Russian pianist wins Queen Elisabeth Competition

Russian pianist Denis Kozhukhin wins the 16th Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition receiving both audience prizes as well. Second prize has been awarded to Evgeni Bozhanov from Bulgaria. The third prize went to Dutch pianist Hannes Minnaar and the forth to Yuri Favorin from Russia. The fifth and the sixth prizes have been awarded to pianists from Korea - Tae-Hyung Kim and Da Sol Kim respectively. Other six finalists have become the laureates of the 16th Queen Elisabeth competition representing Korea, Japan, Latvia, and the USA.

The Competition, one of the best known competitions, as well as one of the most challenging ones, takes place every year alternating between violin, piano, composition, and singing. The next edition of the competition will be devoted to singing and will take place in the spring of 2011.

Application process for Euterpe Competitions ends May 9

In less than a week, on May 9, the application process for the Euterpe competitions will come to an end. Both competitions - the 12th International Music Competition and the 4th International Piano Competition - take place in a town of Corato located in Puglia region, southeastern Italy.

Led by Italian pianist and composer Francesco De Santis, the competitions are aimed at both beginners and advanced musicians. The 12th Music Competition starts on May 27 and is open to musicians of all ages and nationalities. However, participants are carefully divided into eight age categories and perform in an instrument-related section. The 4th International Piano Competition starts on June 2. It is intended for more advanced pianists not older than 40 and consists of two rounds of recital program. The closing ceremony and the final concert will conclude both Euterpe competitions on June 7, 2010.

The beginning of Spring 2010 proved to be very fruitful for announcements of music competitions around the world. 42 (!) competitions have been announced during the last month. Most of them scheduled for the end of 2010 and 2011. However, some are coming up this summer. So, make sure you check our calendar for your instrument again.
