From 15 to 21 March 2013 the second edition of a series of masterclasses will take place on Schiermonnikoog, one of the most beautiful locations in the Netherlands. The series has been organised under the auspices of the International Chamber Music Festival Schiermonnikoog.
A maximum of thirty-five top young musicians can be admitted to participate in the series. A number of participants will be selected to play during the festival in October. Nobuko Imai (viola), Philippe Graffin (violin), Jan Wijn (piano) and Jeroen Reuling (cello) will provide six days of public and private masterclasses, and each day will conclude with a concert.
Besides focussing on the technical and musical aspects of the profession, attention will be paid to other matters that are extremely relevant to the professional musician. Mental coach Xavier Rouget will lead a workshop on how to deal with stress. Dr Davy de Boer, physician to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and a specialist in injuries resulting from the profession, will be available for consultations during the week.
Each day will start with relaxation: yoga, which, weather permitting, will take place on the beach. Two professional photographers will be available to take publicity shots of participants.
Together with Bert van Dijk (Helix Audio), students from the Tonmeisterinstitut UdK Berlin will be invited to make recordings and to 'livestream' concerts.
